DIY Linocut Workshop (Stamp Making)

Come learn the skills to create your own stamp with block printing techniques in the heart of Oakland!

During this workshop class... Instructor Antonia will teach you the skills to create custom-stamp by carving into linoleum blocks (rubber block) - All supplies are included! This technique is a beginner-friendly medium for those who are interested in getting into print making- This workshop does not require previous knowledge about linocut. If you are looking for inspiration and the skills to make personalized gifts for family and friends, or if you want to engage in a relaxing hobby that brings you joy, this class is for you!

In this class, students will be introduced to the printmaking process of linocut. The class will cover techniques in carving linoleum and printing. At their own pace, students will learn how to create a design and carve it in linoleum using carving tools. Students will learn how to ink and print their linoleum blocks by hand. In a relaxed and welcoming environment, students will create many beautiful prints that they can later print on the tote bags provided.

Participants are encouraged (but not requiered) to... Bring their own sketch or design they'd like to carve. You can also bring clothing (or other fabrics) you'd like to use your stamp on.

Each ticket includes: 1 linoleum block, a tote bag, access to linocut carving tools, three options of fabric ink, paper, brayers, pencils, pens.

Participants will leave with... One monochromatic print + a tote bag to print their design on.

About your Instructor... Antonia Lara Sanchez is a trained industrial designer with a BFA from Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Valparaiso, Chile. For the past six years, Antonia worked as a graphic design and photography teacher in schools throughout Providence, RI and Oakland, CA. She believes in the transformative and healing power of the arts and finds joy in sharing her knowledge with others . Antonia currently works as a full time artist, teaching crafty classes throughout the Bay Area.
